Hurricane Carlotta will begin to wind down today as it moves into colder water. At 11 et/8pt Carlotta was located near 225 miles ssw of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Movement is northwest at 13 mph. Maximum winds are at 85 mph, with higher gusts. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center... tropical storm force 85 miles. Pressure is at 979 millibars... 28.91 inches.

Tropical storm watches have been issued by the Mexican government for the southern portion of Baja California south of Cabo San Lazaro, however, these are expected to be discontinued later today.

The main threat from Carlotta now is rough surf along the southern Baja.
