A very strong storm (not severe) came through the are this afternoon. It brought strong gusty winds and very heavy rain. Though the storm only lasted 20 minutes, it gave us .47" of rain and wind gusts to 29 mph. Most of the rain fell in a 5 minute period (.36"). This rainfall makes the 9th straight day it has rained at my location, though still only totaling 1.66" for the month of June. The nromal for Cornelia, Ga (a nearby city) is 4.4" for June. We are on pace to get a little better than our average right now, but if I am not mistaken, after tomorrow, the afternoon storms and showers will ikely be ending til early next week.
The current radar is showing some storms to my west right now heading this way, they may make it as the temperature really warmed up after the other storm and the dewpoint is at 70° right now with a temp of 81°. Maybe the atmosphere didnt get too stablelized from the other storm. WE NEED THE RAIN.
