FOLKS
I have to seriously contest this drought statement issued by Jim Nunley
especially regarding the Midwest. Jim is a good guy No a great guy but I
think he is using NOAA public relations gibberish that they have issued
to cover the Climate Predicition center's obviously FLAWED drought
forecast.
Keep in mind that CPC has been pushing this drought forecast since
february. In part the la Nina was really raging in Feb March and early
April and strong La Nina's mean Much above normal temps and dry weather.
But in the 45 -60 days since July 1 the la Nina has collapsed. So the CPC
is still sticking with its clearly wrong drought forecast which is
turning out to be a forecast disaster. I know; I deal with commodity
traders every day. Corn Soybean, Wheat and Oat prices have collapsed
because there is so much rain!
Jim may not realize that over the weekend of june 16 -18 no less than 22
Flash Flood watches, warning & statements were issued for Flooding in the
Ohio and tennessee valleys with MANY locations seeing over 5 inches of
rain in under 3 days. More heavy rain is LIKELY this week across these
same areas.!
The June 6-9 Hot period Jim mentions is irrelvant since there was so much
rain before then the 100+ F temps did NO damage to crops, business or
water levels. Whole farms are under water. last night eastern Nebraska
saw 2 to 6 inches of rain.
Hot periods in July do not make a drought. Its called summer.
