Hi Aaron,
I was an AG1 in the U.S. Coast Guard. Our green is just now starting
to return. Our 7 month drought killed 1000's of trees and scorched our
hills and pastures brown like the thrust fault hills in your area during
summer.
I used to live in Cupertino and Sunnyvale. Several times during the
summer season the downslope compression easterly flow would rip through
the bay area with temps as high as 106 deg. Then of course just a few
days later it was back to 60's/40's, aaaahhhh.
I don't really have to do much storm chasing, maybe a few miles, as
the TRW are so numerous on a normal sunny day.
Take Care,
