The SE coastal area of Florida was deluged with up to 6 inches of rain
today. Also some lighter precipitation fell around Daytona Beach.
For no good reason I thought May had 30 days, so here's the updated
statistics:
=====
Plant City, Fl.
May 2000
Mean Max-90.7
Mean Min-64.4
Mean Month- 77.6, +1.0
=====
For the first time in recorded history, this morning residents along
the Hillsborough and Withlacoochee Rivers awoke to a surge of salt water
from the Gulf Of Mexico. By late afternoon the salt water surge made it
all the way inland to the Green Swamp headwater of both rivers.
I stopped by the local Seminole Indian reservation today and spoke
with Chief Lokalakaakka. He checked the tribes' record books and found
that the last time this phenomena happended was during the beginning of
the Little Ice Age in the late 1600's!!!
