As I write this post a slow SSE moving line of thunderstorms over
north central Florida is causing flash flooding. This line is associated
with a prefrontal trough.
Looking at the latest ECMWF model and the Atlantic tropical surface
analysis plus satellite images, it appears our monsoon rainy season will
commence later this week. By 6/4 we could be deluged!!!
Driving around my local area yesterday I saw dying or dead pines,
oaks, maples, hickory and cypress everywhere, similar to areas to my
north, as I mentioned earlier in the month.
The last time I saw such a thing in this area was in December 1989
when the minimum temp. dropped to +8 deg F, with 60+ consecutive hours
below 32 deg.
