The East Coast may have severe weather today. The SPC has issued a
SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS for the mid-atlantic and lower new
england. Cities in the risk are: Philly, Albany, NYC, DC, Norfolk,
Charleston WV, and Roanoke VA. For a better look and discussion see the
SPC page:
http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day1otlk.html
The weather companies are generally in agreement, if you want to see
their different thunderstorm predictions today:

The weather channel is keeping the worst out of most of VA but giving
Eastern Carolina a chance. AccuWeather is counting Pittsburgh and all
of WV in the mix for strong storms on their hand-drawn map
http://www.accuweather.com/adcbin/severe_storms_large?nav=home&partner=CASI
but their automated map includes Boston in the most likely area for
thunderstorms.

If I may be so brave as to borrow from CASI Member Larry Cosgrove's
WeatherAmerica Discussion from this morning (email
weatheramerica{at}msn.com for information on how to receive this discussion
and more everyday in your emailbox)
"After a two-day rampage throughout the central third of the nation, a
storm
centered over ONT will bring its severe weather act to the eastern
seaboard,
particularly the New England and Mid-Atlantic states. A warm front will
move
from N NJ into NH/MA/RI this afternoon, allowing sunshine to heat an
already
warm and unstable atmosphere. Although not necessarily in the same
league as
the previous 48 hours, CAPE/LI values, difluence, surface convergence,
and
500mb height falls all point toward a cluster of intense thunderstorms
forming over W NY/W PA at midday. By evening, the major metropolitan
areas
such as New York NY....Philadelphia PA....Baltimore MD....Washington
DC....Richmond VA will all be "under the gun" (forgive the cliche) for
large
hail, damaging straight line wind, and even the isolated tornado. But
this
will all be a quick hit, and by Sunday morning fair and cooler
conditions
should overtake the East Coast."
I'm still preparing for the wedding and the moving so I'm afraid I'm DOA
for pursuing storms today unless they come REALLY close to the house.
I'm SO out of time!
