[STORMREPORTS] Thunderstorms In Florida

Here in Plant City in west central Florida we reached 90 deg. for a max
temp. today. This is our first 90 deg. max temp. of the season, very
late and a continuation of a colder then normal trend going back to
November 1999.
With todas hot temps. and cold air aloft with an eastward moving
shortwave trough, the persisent 700 mb cap was finally punctured
allowing for monster thunderstorms to form down the spine of the
peninsula.
Though two thunderstorms occured in my vicinity early this afternoon
I only recorded .01" We are desperately in need of rainfall.
It normally takes the first three weeks of sputtering in May before
the thunderstorm monsoon season completely kicks in but sometimes it
comes as late as the second week of June.
