[STORMREPORTS] Re: pollen so thick it's on radar

I have to question that theory... I've been studying radar for quite a
while and I see that type of "clutter" around the center of local radars
over much of the nation for much of the year. I have been told it's due
to inversions in the atmosphere which cause the radar beam to bounce
between atmospheric layers. Inversions are notoriously stable so if it
did rain that would indicate that the inversion would be breaking down.

That's one view. I know that radars pick up bugs, insects, birds, and
maybe even something as small as pollen, but it's hard to get any
straight answers on the radar clutter topic, don't seem to be too many
experts out there, if you are, please speak up.

Since we're getting off topic here I'll CC: this to the CASILIST so that
discussions can "flower" from there.
