Record Temperature Report for Temple, Bell County, Texas
for Sunday, April 23, 2000

Central Texas experienced the first 90 degree temperatures of the season on
Easter Sunday with record high temperatures being recorded in Waco, Austin
and San Antonio. The high in Waco was 94 degrees, replacing the 91 set in
1943. Austin's record high today was 97 degrees(previous 94 - 1955) while
San Antonio's record high was 98 degrees (previous 93 - 1988). College
Station tied their record high temperature of 91 degrees originally set in
1925 while Del Rio tied their record high of 99 degrees originally set in
1958. The high at my station was 93 degrees.

Clear sunny skies, gusty W to SW winds 15 - 25 mph plus and humidities in
the upper 20% range allowed the temperatures to reach record levels . The
strong west winds brought in some red West Texas dust just before sunset.
