Well first let me say that I've been running around at Interstate speeds
(70 in WV & NC) for several years now with all the mess that I have on
Vehicle#1 (www.weatherwatchers.org/members/vehicle1 - old pic, have
(had?) two more antennas now) and have never had any problems.
But the extreme wind gusts on I-81 in VA and I-70 in Maryland today were
enough to take two antennas and the light clean off the top of the car.
The secondary scanner antenna and light both dangled from the side of
the roof since they are corded inside, but the primary antenna (which
transmitted through the back window) is somewhere out on I-70 in
Maryland ;)
It was also hard to hold on to the steering wheel, something I have only
experienced a few times in that car - Hurricanes Fran and Bonnie and a
couple of times on I-40 in western NC during winter frontal passages.
I also ran through snow for much of the drive in PA. Apparently,
looking at the Cam archives, I had a dusting to an inch this morning.
