If all this rain were snow...
Is usally something people say during a heavy rain event. In most cases
though, if the air were colder there wouldn't have been enough
convection to produce the heavy rain.
But there is one exception, and that's when the elevation is high enough
to still be above the snowline. This is happening in Somerset county PA
today.
A very localized Winter Storm Warning has been issued for up to 10" of
snow in that county. Immediately surrounding the Laurel Highlands, 2-4"
is expected. Outside of that it is forecast to be a rain event for the
Mid-Atlantic.
Temperatures are in the 40's in DE, MD, OH, and NY but a cool pool of
air exists in Central and Eastern PA with 30's. It's 54 in Ithica NY
but 34 in Johnstown PA.
