Hello everyone,
It finally feels like March, in fact there will be a hard freeze in the
mid Atlantic tonight. Yet with a low of 21 forecasted by the NWS, they
DID NOT issued a freeze warning for tonight. I guess they figure if the
growing season doesn't
start until April 1st, there's no need to issue the warning. In fact,
trees are in bloom, but the fruit trees are not in danger. I'm sure a
few people have started gardens, but I would wait until late April.
The mean temp this month to date is 48, about 8 degrees above mtd normal
mean, and this months temperature would be normal for the 1st week of
April.
Last nights rain totalled only .23"; QPFs before the storm were
forecasted at 1-2". I had checked radars early Friday, and perhaps half
the mid Atlantic region received at least 1/2 to 1.5" rain. The heaviest
rain fell in southern & southeastern VA, along the eastern side of the
Chesapeake Bay, and in eastern PA.
