Central North Carolina, after recieving 5-6" of snow on Tuesday, got an
additional 2" last night. Snow started just before the eleven o'clock news
(great for the hype) and ended by 3 am. Some thunder snow here in High Point,
but there were more reports west of here towards the foothills.
Unlike the dry snow earlier in the week, this one is very wet and sticky.
Trees are covered and roads are just wet...travel is not a problem, but
schools are businesses are closed nonetheless. The axis for Tuesday's snow
ran from the northwest to southeast through the Triad cities of
Greensboro/Winston-Salem and High Point. Higher amounts northwest of the
Triad. This snow simply gets deeper the further north you go towards
Virginia, with only a trace reported south of Asheboro and towards Charlotte,
and up to six inches near the VA border.
Now we wait for round three for more snow Saturday night and Sunday! So much
for the southern snow drought of the 1990s... With this sort of practice, we
Southerners will become old snow pros by next week!
