Unfortunately it appears that the hard freeze I first forecasted 3 weeks
ago to the day, is underway on the central peninsula. In rural Plant
City after a high temp. of 48 deg, the ground surface temp. dropped to
32 deg at 8 pm and the air temp. dropped to 32 deg at 9 pm. At this
location it looks like we will have a time duration below 32 deg of
approx. 11-12 hours, with 6-8 hours below 28 deg. The cold protection
irrigation in the surrounding strawberry fields is already underway.
