Ice Storm in High Point, North Carolina Sunday 30 Jan 2000 10:14am
Here in central North Carolina, we are getting our 5th winter storm in a
series. Temperature is 26 degrees and it is raining moderately. All surfaces,
including the top of the deep snow-pack, are glazed. Surface roads are salted
and slushy, but bridges are said to be slick. Big concern here are the trees.
We have already had a couple of power outages in the area, and as this
weather should continue for the rest of the day, more are likely.
I will try to include a picture out the window. My 100 year old Sugar Maple
was damaged heavily in the last ice storm...I halfway expect the rest might
come down if icing continues...Benj.
