It's 6:30 PM in Brooklyn Park, MD. It's presently sleeting heavily, and
=
has been for a while. There's a couple inches of frozen precip on the =
ground..an inch probably sleet. This storm has been mostly sleet for us.
=
The snow plows & salt trucks are out and "on top of it"! It's 28 deg =
here also.

The rain stopped here around 4:00, but the temperature has remained at
32, so
no melting has taken place yet. Trees and surfaces have about 3/8 to 1/2
inch
if ice on them, and the weight is breaking limbs off. I live on the edge
of
woods, and a limb cracks about every minute and a half. Main roads are
salted
and slushy, all other roads are very slick. I think 50,000 Duke Power
customers are without electricity at this time, and Duke serves only a
portion of the area.
PS...the 100 year old Sugar Maple beside the house looks very sad right
now,
but nothing major has happened to it...yet. One of it's limbs that is
normally 12 feet off the ground is touching the ground right now.

First snowflake observed at 6:20pm.The precip has benn arcing to the
Northwest until now. Snow falling now at a steady moderate pace. However
,I am
most interested in an area of intense precip., approaching 50mi. south
near
Trenton.Since Chatham is only 20mi inland,& with the temp at 33 degrees,
it
could bring a severe icing situation.Later.

The snow began here in Montrose, Pennsylvania at about
4:30 and hasn't stopped. I'm guessing we are up to an
inch on top of the 9 inches we received on Wednesday.
It is very heavy, wet snow. At least the temperature
made it above 20 today. It has been in the teens
during the day and blow zero at night for the past 2
weeks.
