>From the Hurricane Center:
...LENNY BECOMES A CATEGORY FOUR HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR/SIMPSON
HURRICANE SCALE...THE FIFTH OF THE SEASON...NEARING THE NORTHEASTERN
CARIBBEAN ISLANDS...MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 135
MPH...215 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS ESPECIALLY OVER UNPROTECTED SOUTH
AND WEST FACING HARBORS...
This is the key with this storm. The harbors were built mainly on those
sides of Puerto Rico *because* storms never come in from that direction,
so says TWC this morning.
Observations are available here:
http://www.weatherwatchers.org/tropical/surface/
But they are not that impressive so far.
More info and radar images (which ARE impressive!)
