The WeatherMatrix Board of Directors / WeatherMatrix Founder

For our first six years, WeatherMatrix was run primarily by Founder Jesse Ferrell, with informal consultation from some members. In late 2003, WeatherMatrix formed a Board of Directors so that larger decisions could be initiated by a small group of outstanding individuals, though most decisions still go through the Members in the forms of Polls.

In early 2005, this board was disbanded in favor of a new future for WeatherMatrix. Information is forthcoming on a new Board of Directors for WeatherMatrix.

WeatherMatrix Founder Jesse Ferrell - Chairman of the Board
Jesse graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He founded the Central Atlantic Storm Investigators (CASI) in late 1996, in order to form a community of storm enthusiasts in North Carolina. He funded it through 2000, when it became an official business and took on the WeatherMatrix name. Jesse has worked in weather-related jobs for the educational (UNC-A), government (NWS, NCDC) as well as the private sector. He currently is Community Director at AccuWeather [AccuWeather is the parent company of WeatherMatrix.] He has also been doing Web development and IT work since 1993, including a 2-year stint at a (now defunct) Internet Service Provider under CBC in Raleigh, NC. Jesse is interested in experimental mobile webcam technology, ran one of the first personal webcams in 1995, and was one of the first multiple weather camera sites on the Net in 1997. He is also a weather photographer and SKYWARN spotter who sometimes chases local storms. Jesse resides at his home (which serves as WeatherMatrix HQ) in State College, Pennsylvania with his wife, stepdaughter, and two cats. SEE COMPLETE PROFILE
