Flooding at Spring Creek, State College PA, March 20, 2003

The NWS in State College, PA, home of WeatherMatrix HQ, issued about 20 flood warnings in ONE statement at 1pm on March 20 (see CTP statements in the archive). Already that morning before the heavy rain began, streams and creeks in the State College area were at the top of their banks due to the recent snow melt.

WeatherMatrix Founder Jesse Ferrell took these photos at 5pm at the Houserville Spring Creek USGS Gauge in State College. The streamflow and stream height at the time of the photos have been permanently archived here and are displayed below.
